An exceptional late 19th-century American Victorian bedroom set in walnut, featuring a carved bed, a pair of marble-top dressers, and a mirror — all sharing the same Eastlake incised carving, beautiful rich wood graining, and original brass hardware. The pieces are presented as a set in the same style; whether they were originally purchased together is not documented.
This rare set includes a classic 3-drawer commode chest, a single-door, multi-drawer washstand, a high-back carved bed, and a framed mirror. They feature a unique manufacturer's inverted stencil reading "S.B. SHAW'S MARBLE WORKS / BUFFALO, N.Y." on one of the undersides of the marble slab, authenticating its regional historic provenance. An original, fascinating 19th-century newspaper clipping fragment remains affixed to the back of one piece, adding incredible antique charm.
Both dressers sit on their original functional casters for easy placement, and the set comes with a working, highly detailed antique brass skeleton key that operates the original brass escutcheon locks.
Bed: High carved headboard with arched crest and incised Eastlake decoration, paneled footboard with a central carved medallion, and side rails with a pierced leaf-and-vine motif. 55" W x 75" L, headboard 58.5" H, footboard 31.5" H. Mattress area measures 55" x 75", with a lip on each side rail narrowing the opening to 54" — fits a standard full-size mattress (54" x 75"). Includes headboard, footboard, and side rails. Slats not included; buyer will need a set of standard full-size slats.
Mirror: Dark walnut frame with incised leaf carving at the corners, in the same Eastlake style as the other pieces. 27.25" x 33".

Tops: Both genuine marble tops display some historic surface staining/discoloration consistent with age, usage, and their past life holding washing pitchers and basins. The marble top of the smaller washstand also has small holes approximately the diameter of a pencil (about 1/4 inch) drilled in its back corners by a previous owner, purpose unknown. Bed: Good antique condition with surface wear and scratches consistent with age and use, as shown in the photos. Mirror: Original glass with foxing (desilvering) consistent with age, as shown in the photos — a look collectors value as proof of the mirror's age. The frame is in keeping with the other pieces. Hardware & Drawers: All drawers in working condition. Original heavy brass drop-pull hardware is fully intact. Marble tops are not permanently attached. less
