In Rome's Pantheon, the oculus is the round opening at the crown of the dome: the building's only window, and its whole point. This piece borrows the idea and the name.
A full cross-section of solid teak keeps its dark bark edge and its honey-gold grain, the growth rings still legible across the face. Through the centre runs a single ring of soft, warm light, like a quiet eclipse. The slice is dried, stabilised and sealed before the light ever goes in, so it will not crack the way ordinary log slices do.
The brightness adjusts through the included controller, from reading light down to a faint ember. First edition of 18, and because no two cross-sections of a tree are alike, no two Oculus lamps are either. Each piece is numbered and signed.
Wired for the US with a standard US plug. Low-voltage LED, cool to the touch.
Approx. 12" H x 12" W x 2.5" D. As a natural log slice, each piece measures between 10" and 12" across.
