This antique Chinese storage cabinet from the late 19th century balances minimal lines with hand-crafted details. Crafted of elm (yumu) to a classic, square-corner design, the tall wardrobe was likely commissioned for a traditional wedding dowry, bestowed upon the groom by the bride's family filled with fine silks, linens, and other gifts.
Cloaked by a dark lacquer finish, the cabinet's simple silhouette is embellished with a beautifully carved apron depicting flowers of the four seasons. Left unadorned, the doors open to a spacious interior with three shelves, two drawers and a hidden lower compartment. Richly aged with a dark patina, a full moon brass lock plate secures the double doors, each affixed with charming peach-form pulls with heart-shaped cutouts.
Door pin is replacement.
