This storage chest exemplifies the mid-century Hollywood Regency fascination with traditional Chinoiserie and Japanned casework.

The cabinet is finished in a high-gloss black lacquer that serves as a canvas for extensive, hand-painted gold gilt ornamentation across the front facade. The two main cabinet doors feature a continuous, intricate landscape narrative depicting classic Asian pagodas, bridges, mountain ranges, willow trees, water vessels, and historical figures engaged in conversation. This pictorial composition is framed by an inner gold border and detailed geometric open-lattice trellis corners.

The center of the cabinet features a prominent, circular brass medallion lock plate with a stylized filigree pattern that splits vertically where the doors meet. The structure is elevated on a minimalist, square-legged base in a matching black finish, offering a clean line that grounds the dense surface decoration.

White-glove delivery has now been selected as the default option to ensure the chest is delivered safely, but I am able to deliver anywhere in the New England area for a fraction of the price. See less
