Originally introduced into the company's catalog in the mid-20th century under the direction of Marc Lalique (René Lalique's son), this piece numbers among the brand's classic small animalier studies.

The sculpture depicts a young, spotted fawn bowing its head toward the ground. The design utilizes Lalique’s signature decorative technique: contrasting a satin-frosted, chemically etched body against a highly polished, optically clear geometric base. The recessed spots along the fawn's back are molded and hand-chased to diffuse light differently than the surrounding smooth frosted surfaces.

Founded by master jeweler and glassmaker René Lalique in the late 19th century, Maison Lalique became a defining force in both the Art Nouveau and Art Deco movements. Following René's passing in 1945, his son Marc transitioned the company's production from traditional demi-crystal glass to high-lead crystal, which allowed for greater clarity, weight, and light refraction. Lalique pieces from this era continue to be hand-crafted and finished by master artisans at the company's historic factory in Wingen-sur-Moder, Alsace, France. See less
