American Victorian-era parlor rocking chair dating to the turn of the century (circa 1880–1910). Styled with the characteristic low, comfortable proportions of a classic "sewing" or "nursing" rocker, this piece features a rich, dark-stained finish, elegant curvilinear armrests, and a beautifully contoured top crest rail.
A notable feature of this particular chair is how wonderfully lightweight it is. Unlike heavy, cumbersome modern furniture, its factory-machined spindle design and airy, woven mesh panels make it incredibly easy to move from room to room while remaining structurally sound.
Condition:
• Caning: Exceptional antique condition. Both the pressed cane backrest and seat panel are tightly woven with no major sagging and no broken strands—remarkably rare for a delicate piece of this age.
• Frame: Sturdy and ready for daily use or display, showing only minor, honest cosmetic wear consistent with its 100+ year history.
Specifications:
• Period: Late 19th / Early 20th Century
• Style: Victorian / Eastlake Influence
• Materials: Mixed hardwood, pre-woven sheet cane (spline-set)
Perfect as a functional accent piece for a nursery, reading nook, or historical living space.
