This exquisite vintage lidded jar is a beautiful example of traditional metalwork and enameling. Crafted from copper and finished with a silver wash, the body of the jar is intricately decorated with a dense, repeating wave or scale pattern in high relief, creating a rich, textured background.
The exterior is adorned with vibrant, raised enamel appliqués depicting a lively aquatic scene. Graceful koi fish in shades of red and gold with green fins are depicted swimming around the body and across the domed lid. The jar is further embellished with colorful floral and leaf motifs, including pink lotus blossoms, blue flowers, and scrolling green vines.
The domed lid sits flush with the rim and is topped with a stylized, flower-shaped finial holding a loose ring. The interior of the jar is finished in a smooth, polished silver tone. The base bears an incised, square seal mark containing four characters. This highly decorative piece is perfect for storing small treasures or for use as a striking accent on a desk or vanity.
