This is a striking, large-scale vintage statue of Sun Wukong, the legendary Monkey King from the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West. Crafted from solid copper, the piece features highly detailed repoussé (high-relief) work, intricate engraving, and vibrant hand-painted polychrome details finished with gilding.
The Monkey King is depicted in a commanding, heroic stance, holding his iconic golden-banded staff (Ruyi Jingu Bang) across his shoulder. He wears elaborate, ornate armor featuring a green chest plate, golden scale details, and a dramatic red cape. His facial expression is fierce and lifelike, with gilded fur and intense eyes, and he wears a crown with two long, sweeping pheasant feathers (lingzi) extending backward. He stands triumphantly atop a gilded, rocky base where a detailed, golden dragon coils beneath his feet. This weighty, impressive piece is perfect for display on a console table, shelf, or in a curated collection.
