This mid-20th century print reproduces his 1908 drawing Deux Femmes Enlacées (Two Women Embracing).

It was printed in Paris by the atelier of Daniel Jacomet (1894–1966), whose Procédé Jacomet joined a collotype, printed from a gelatin plate, with color brushed by hand through a sequence of pochoir stencils. Collotype is slow, technically demanding and now rarely practiced, but it holds the soft gradations of graphite far better than offset printing. The Jacomet atelier was a leading French workshop for fine facsimiles, printing for publishers of Picasso, Braque, Matisse and Miró.

The sheet carries the Jacomet atelier’s blind stamp in the lower left corner. The print is matted and framed under glass, with a sight size of 9 1/2 by 12 1/2 inches in a frame measuring 15 3/4 by 18 3/4 inches. Photographs were white-balanced to a gray card under daylight-balanced lighting; colors may display slightly differently across screens. See less
