These six (6) Softec chairs designed by David Rowland for Thonet in the 1970s are a celebrated modernist design icon. This distinct chair features Rowland's patented "Soflex" seating material—a specialized design where sinuous metal springs are dipped in vinyl plastisol to create a thin, flexible, open-mesh back and seat. Supported by a lightweight tubular chrome frame, the chair offers an incredible balance of industrial aesthetic, ergonomic comfort, and functional stackability.
Please note: the chairs are unmarked; without the brand label.
The chairs’ condition is good for their age, and use over the years.
The chrome has a vintage rustic patina and has some light scratching in some areas.
The red coating on the seat mesh is in good cosmetic shape overall, with some cracks but are very structurally sound and supportive.
