Authentic Antique South Indian Thookku-Vilakku Brass Hanging Twin Oil Lamp
A fine antique South Indian brass hanging twin oil lamp set, known traditionally as a Thookku-Vilakku, originating from Kerala / Tamil Nadu, South India.
The display base retains its original collection archive tag / metal inventory plaque reading: "BK5-898 PAIR OF OIL LAMPS", confirming its provenance and estate registry status.
Features two deep-tiered oil reservoirs suspended from a balancing crossbar with a central lotus motif weight and heavy cast brass chains with decorative Jhoola pattern links—a hallmark of South Indian metal casting.
Mounted on a custom heavy metal and wooden display stand with the original archive plaque attached.
Lamp length/span approx. 14.5 inches, width across crossbar approx. 6 inches. Total height on stand is 22.5 inches (base measures 10 x 6 inches).
Very good antique condition. Completely untouched surface with natural age oxidation, rich dark and malachite green patina, and internal carbon/oil residue from historic use. No cracks or modern repairs.
