Trio of three ruby-red and black-amethyst glass bud vases. This set includes three small art-glass bud vases in deep ruby red and near-black amethyst glass: one tall vase, one teardrop vase, and one squat vase. The tallest vase measures 6 inches high, and the widest measures 4.5 inches. The vases are unmarked.
About the glass: Ruby glass gets its deep red color from gold chloride added to the molten glass — one of the oldest glassmaking recipes, described in the 17th century. "Black amethyst" glass is actually an extremely deep purple that glows purple-red when held against a strong light, a Victorian-era favorite.
This listing is for the set of three vases. Photos to be added by the owner.
