Hugo R. B. Newman was an American painter associated with New York during the early 20th century. He is credited with the ceiling murals illustrating the history of communication in Manhattan’s landmark Barclay–Vesey Building, originally the headquarters of the New York Telephone Company. In addition to his architectural murals, Newman created easel paintings, including still lifes and landscapes in oil and gouache. Although further biographical details remain limited, his work is documented in auction records and the Smithsonian’s Peter A. Juley & Son photographic collection See less
