The piece is decorated in vibrant underglaze cobalt blue against a crisp white ground. The main body is painted with a dynamic, ferocious mythical beast (often interpreted as a stylized dragon or qilin) surrounded by scrolling flames and clouds. The design is framed by a band of stylized waves at the shoulder and a row of upright lotus petal lappets at the base. The domed lid mirrors the body's decoration with its own scrolling motifs. A horizontal inscription is painted just below the shoulder. The jar is a substantial, decorative piece that would suit a variety of interior styles.

Dimensions:

Height: 27 cm (approx. 10.63 inches)

Diameter: 22 cm (approx. 8.66 inches)

Inscription:
The body of the jar features a horizontal, six-character inscription in underglaze blue. The characters read "大明宣德年製" (Da Ming Xuande Nian Zhi), which translates to "Made in the Xuande Period of the Great Ming." Note: As is common with vintage decorative pieces, this mark is likely apocryphal and used as a tribute to the classic imperial style. See less
