This is an exceptional example of a Dana Robes Wood Craftsmen solid cherry queen bed frame, built in the classic Shaker-inspired style.
The handwritten inscription on the interior side rail provides outstanding provenance, proving it was handcrafted and finished by master craftsman Ernest "Stille" in February 1998 at the Lower Shaker Village workshop in Enfield, New Hampshire.
Visual Appraisal & Details
• Material: Solid North American black cherry. Over time, cherry wood naturally oxidizes and develops a rich, deep warm reddish-amber patina, which is beautifully evident across the headboard and footboard.
• Joinery & Hardware: Features heavy-duty, traditional cast iron bed rail fasteners (the interlocking brackets visible on the corner posts). These are signature details of fine New England workshop furniture, engineered to be rock-solid when assembled but easily unhooked for transport.
• Design: Clean, arched headboard lines with slightly tapered square posts—a hallmark of contemporary Shaker studio style that emphasizes wood grain over ornamentation.
