The entire body is heavily cast in high relief with intricate designs. The main front and back panels depict detailed scenes of elderly scholars or sages in traditional flowing robes, seated among gnarled pine branches, bamboo, and leafy plants. The neck is decorated with a band of overlapping, stylized leaves. The bronze surface has a rich, dark patina with lighter, polished highlights on the raised details, giving the piece an antique, weathered appearance. The flat base is slightly recessed and bears a raised rectangular maker's mark. The bottle is topped with a domed, deep red stopper set in a dark metal collar. A metal spoon is attached to the stopper.
