The scene is a white house standing in deep snow under a clear blue sky. Green shutters mark the windows and the door. Directly before the façade rises a tall bare tree, its trunk and upper branches catching a yellow winter light.

Dark firs close the view to the right. A wooden fence follows a path across the foreground; the posts throw long blue shadows over the snow. A small outbuilding sits to the left of the house.

The snow is painted in white, lilac and blue. The shadows of the fence are laid as distinct bars of colour. The handling is in short, visible strokes.
The reverse of the frame bears a Berlin framer’s stamp.
