Add an element of timeless Far Eastern sophistication to your vanity, desk, or shelf styling with this exquisite vintage Chinese rosewood decorative box. Meticulously crafted during the mid-20th century, this rectangular keepsakes case features a striking combination of rich exotic hardwood, detailed stone carving, and traditional brass mountings.
The lid features a prominent, large rectangular inset panel of pierced and intricately hand-carved jadeite/hardstone depicting a dense botanical bird and floral landscape motif. The rosewood body exhibits deep reddish-brown tones with a beautiful natural grain pattern, structurally reinforced with tightly joined corner details and a classic bracketed plinth base. It is handsomely finished with an etched brass bat-wing form front latch plate and matching patterned rear hinges.
The interior reveals a deep, clean, lacquered mahogany-stained storage cavity complete with a curved brass lid-stay support arm.
