The vases are brightly decorated in the traditional Wucai (five-color) palette, which combines underglaze blue outlines with vibrant overglaze enamels in red, green, yellow, and aubergine. The neck is adorned with stylized, upright plantain leaves in green, blue, and red. The main body is dominated by a dynamic scene of a large, scaly dragon winding through colorful, stylized clouds, with a vibrant phoenix depicted on the reverse side. The lower section features overlapping waves and mountain motifs, while the flared base is finished with a band of colorful lappets. The vases feature small, red loop handles at the neck. The flat, unglazed bases are hexagonal and bear a reign mark.
