Sweeping hair, theatrical eyes and an integrated lower rail turn an everyday wardrobe object into a striking piece of graphic display design.

the hanger’s silhouette follows the portrait itself: a curved hook rises from the hair, while the shoulders extend into a broad lower rail for clothing. The cream-coloured figure is set against a glossy black field, with dense, flowing linework defining the hair and face.

its monochrome palette and exaggerated fashion-illustration features give the piece a strong pop sensibility. Functional as a clothes hanger, its scale and poster-like front also make it an unusually graphic object in its own right.

design / maker / history

the reverse is marked b g milano.

the exaggerated hair, monochrome palette and fashion-illustration linework place the piece within the pop-inflected visual culture of the 1960s and 1970s. No designer or model name is documented for this example.
