A rare pair of large wood-carved cornucopias filled with fruit, dating from around 1850 in the 19th century.
Each cornucopia is elaborately carved in the form of a spiralling horn that terminates in scrolling foliage. The surfaces are finished in a combination of gold and silver gilding (Lüsterfassung), while the abundant fruit spilling from the openings is painted in naturalistic polychrome colours. The carved produce includes bunches of grapes, apples, pears, nuts and leaves, creating a richly detailed and decorative effect.
