He made this wooden table in honour of his late father's legacy, and to bridge his own divide between the preservation of the past and the posturing of posterity. The materials he used for the build were sourced from those left over from his father's workshop, so he decided to memorialize them as a statement of continuity, inviting us to contemplate how we can reflect on elements of our history, building the future with the markers of time and place from the past.

This rectangular wooden table features a striking two-toned design and intricate architectural details.

Tabletop: Crafted from polished, reddish-brown mahogany wood with visible grain, the flat surface is framed by a continuous carved border containing fluid, wave-like lines, dots, and West African geometric motifs such as Nsibidi and Adinkra markings.

Base and Panels: The four square legs match the top's reddish-brown tone. The side and end panels are made from West African Cordia (Omo) and finished in a contrasting, nearly black tone. The distinct pointed archways cut into the base panels, and the dense, non-representational geometric relief carvings (such as the repeating X-shapes and triangles) are classic hallmarks of Moorish and North African design. They were incorporated into the table's design to give a pan-African vibe, elevating the stool from a normal household feature to a statement piece.

The table ships from Lagos, Nigeria, in a secure wooden crate. See less
