This exquisite vintage box is crafted from rich, dark rosewood (xiaoye zitan), renowned for its dense grain. The wood displays a beautiful, natural "ox hair" grain pattern and distinct "cat's eye" (burmese rosewood) characteristics, giving it a deep, lustrous patina.
The lid is beautifully inlaid with mother-of-pearl (shell) in a classic Chinese motif known as "Magpies on Plum Blossoms" (Xǐquè Dēngméi), a traditional symbol of good fortune and joy. The delicate iridescence of the shell contrasts elegantly with the dark wood. The box rests on a custom-fitted, low-profile wooden stand with slightly flared feet. This substantial and heavy piece is perfect for storing treasured items, jewelry, or as a sophisticated decorative accent in a study or living room.
