Stunning vintage Murano hand blown cranberry and gold flecks Italian art glass apple shaped fruit bowl. Unmarked but matches similar examples found in the Archimede Seguso factory catalogue (see the bottom examples in the last photo, catalogue not included).
The rich ruby-red glass, turquoise-green accents, and shimmering gold inclusions are characteristic of the decorative techniques employed by Archimede Seguso in his celebrated Polvere Oro series of the 1950s. To create the Polvere Oro effect, the glassmaker applies extremely thin sheets of genuine gold leaf to hot glass, which fracture into countless tiny flecks as the glass is blown and stretched.
Would make a great display piece on any table or vanity. Use it as a catchall, candy or jewelry dish. Mid-century era. Pontil mark at the end of the bowl as pictured.
