The teapot features a classic, rounded body with a short spout, a smooth looping handle, and a domed lid topped with a spherical finial. The interior and the very base rim are glazed in a contrasting clean white. A distinctive feature is the built-in strainer holes at the base of the spout inside the pot.

The flat base is glazed white and features handwritten blue calligraphy. The inscription reads "建國瓷廠敬贈 上海博物館 一九七二年", which translates to "Respectfully presented by the Jianguo Porcelain Factory to the Shanghai Museum, 1972." This provides excellent provenance, indicating this piece was a special commemorative gift. It is a beautiful, understated piece of mid-century Chinese porcelain, perfect for tea lovers and collectors of vintage ceramics.
