Late one afternoon, at low tide, I ventured out along the shoreline. The sun filtered through intermittently, its light shifting between brightness and shadow.

In a shallow stretch of water, I noticed the light settling across the sand. Like a face emerging from a moving cloud, a profile seemed to appear before me. The texture of the sand and the changing light had combined to create this unexpected vision.

My imagination turned instinctively towards red. Then a word came to mind: Apocalypse.
