Rare pair of Qing Dynasty Chinese Cloisonné Double Gourd Wall Vases, Five-Clawed Dragon
An unusual matched pair of Chinese cloisonné enamel wall vases, late Qing dynasty (19th–early 20th century). Each features a vibrant yellow five-clawed dragon, traditionally associated with Imperial authority, against a richly detailed black enamel ground filled with delicate copper-wire cloud scrolls.
The dragons face in opposite directions, creating a striking, symmetrical display. Fashioned in the traditional double-gourd form, the vases feature flattened, naturally patinated copper-alloy backs with integral hanging openings, specifically designed for wall display.
Beautifully executed in vivid turquoise, cobalt blue, yellow, and red enamels, these uncommon wall-mounted vessels combine traditional Chinese symbolism with exceptional decorative appeal.
Dimensions: Each 9" H × 5" W.
Condition: Age-related wear and patination consistent with their apparent age. Please refer to photographs for details.
Sold as a matched pair.
