An iconic example of mid-century modern furniture design, this authentic Eero Saarinen Oval Tulip Dining Table for Knoll features a stunning Italian Arabescato marble top supported by the sculptural white pedestal base that has become synonymous with Saarinen's celebrated Tulip Collection.
Originally designed in 1956, Saarinen's revolutionary pedestal table was conceived to eliminate the visual clutter of traditional table legs, creating a refined, architectural silhouette that remains one of the most recognizable and influential designs of the 20th century.
The generous 78-inch oval tabletop showcases the natural beauty of Arabescato marble, distinguished by its luminous white background and dramatic gray veining. The marble's expressive movement creates an elegant contrast against the smooth white cast-aluminum pedestal, balancing organic character with minimalist modernism.
Its versatile scale makes it equally suited to a luxury dining room, contemporary executive office, private study, creative workspace, or sophisticated conference room. As an executive desk, the expansive marble surface offers a distinctive alternative to traditional office furniture, combining functionality with sculptural elegance.
Please note: there are reflections from the chandelier, windows and plants that appears as damages on the marble top in the photos. The top is in very good condition; no etching, chips, cracks, deep scratches, etc. Overall, the table has very light signs of use.
Manufactured by Knoll, the original authorized producer of Saarinen's designs, this authentic example retains its KnollStudio signature plaque. Originally purchased from Design Within Reach in Canada in 2018 (copy of original invoice available upon request).
An enduring classic of modern design, the Saarinen Oval Tulip Table complements a wide range of interiors, including mid-century modern, contemporary, minimalist, and sophisticated transitional spaces.
