A unique four-panel folding screen, entirely hand-painted on canvas and signed by Alice D’Haese. The work was created in 1949–1950 as her graduation project at the Academy of Fine Arts.

The lively scene depicts a stylised fruit harvest in an orchard. Several figures gather fruit among heavily laden trees, while ladders, baskets, birds, flowers and animals give the composition a playful and narrative character.

The image continues across all four panels and is distinguished by simplified forms, bold outlines and a soft palette of green, cream, brown, red and pale blue. Its decorative visual language and almost folkloric appearance relate beautifully to the innovative applied arts and interior decoration of the period around 1950.

The painted canvases are set within a dark reddish-brown wooden framework. Thanks to its hinged construction, the screen can be arranged in various positions and used as a room divider, decorative backdrop or independent work of art.

With its generous proportions and unique hand-painted execution, this screen creates a striking focal point in a living room, bedroom, shop, hospitality interior, gallery or eclectic setting.

In very good vintage condition, without distracting damage. Light signs of age and use are consistent with its period and handcrafted character.
