Kamakura Bora Japanese tray with the image of flowers. In very good condition (nos). Beautiful deep warm colour.
Dimensions: diameter 36 cm, height 2 cm.
Kamakura-bori is an artisan lacquerwork technique from Kamakura in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, with a seven-century-old history. Originated in traditional Buddhist sculpture and later transferred to contemporary craftsmen. Patterns are made in wood, lacquered with several colour coats of Macomo Indian Ink, and then polished.
