Dating to approximately the 1960s–1970s, the piece is beautifully modeled with a large lobster climbing across the front, vivid red fish, dimensional crabs and lush pink and white blossoms, all resting upon a pale blue wave-form base.

The openwork basket is particularly lovely, with a woven lattice design picked out in fine gilt detailing. There are wonderful surprises from every angle, including a particularly charming little crab tucked inside the basket. Applied flowers, foliage, coral-like textures and additional gilt accents create an exuberant, highly sculptural composition.

An applied pink four-character Qianlong-style mark appears on the reverse, a traditional mark frequently used on later Chinese decorative porcelain.

A wonderfully unusual decorative object with tremendous color, texture and dimension. See less
