This one dates to the 1920s and was hand-carved in China, finished in a deep cinnabar-toned coromandel lacquer that's warmed beautifully with age. At the center, a bold floral medallion is framed by a Greek key border — the kind of detail that tells you real hands, not a machine, made this. Look closer at the feet and you'll notice they're carved into soft, rounded peach shapes — peaches have long symbolized longevity in Chinese art, so there's a little wish for good fortune built right into the design.
At 36" wide and 13" tall, it's a great scale for a coffee table or a low tea table, and the legs actually remove, so it's easier to move or tuck away than you'd expect from something this substantial.
