The set consists … Read more Exceptional set of six Mid-Century Cane Back Dining Chairs after Stanley Furniture Company, in the provincial style. The set consists of two host (arm) chairs and four guest chairs. The cane is in excellent condition as are the chairs, overall. Very sturdy. The seats are upholstered in a two -tone neutral tweed woven fabric which is a forgiving fabric in regard to wear and hiding stains. The wood is believed to be fruitwood. Many Mid-Century provincial dining chairs have fruit and floral carvings and fussy profiles which may become dated. What I particularly notice about this group, is the high back profile, clean lines and lack of heavy details. This style is versatile and lends itself quite well to eclecticism, traditional and transitional design - blending diverse pieces from different eras to create a cohesive whole. See less
