Dimensions: 22 ⅝” H x 29 ⅞” W x 1 ¼” D
A stunning papier mache tray from England, 19th century, decorated with “Japanned” black lacquer and parcel gilt illustrations covering the surface. The tray is glowing from the intricate depictions of stylized cranes, willow trees, and other flowering vines against the black-lacquered background (faintly textured by craquelure patina) extending to the edge of the rim. This will make a perfect anchor on a large cocktail table or a striking accent when propped upright to appreciate the fine details. Please view the detailed images to see more.
