Hand-crafted in the Netherlands, circa 1860, the amazing details of the brass are paired with hand-carved undulating ebonized wood that surrounds not only the main, beveled glass but also the four cushion mirrors. The angled orientation of the small mirrors enhances the depth of the mirror, giving it a layered appearance.

Motifs inspired by nature dominate the main body of the mirror, with a rectangular border of flowers surrounding the central mirror and a larger molding of laurel branches closer to the edge. At the top is a massive heraldic crest featuring a pair of chimera supporters. In between the two mythical winged creatures is an oval shield with a shaped console, both of which are fluted. The shield is surrounded by beadings and scrolls and charged with a foliate margent. A large flower tops the coat of arms, growing from the curled vines that the chimeras stand on.
