This specific design is an Italian Mid-Century Modern piece, typically dated to the 1970s. Designed by Enzo Mari for the Italian company Fratelli Mannelli (Mannelli Brothers), the design features a square travertine base with a circular, polished steel insert that serves as the ash receptacle.
A catchall or vide-poche, this piece is the most chic object that happens to serve a very utilitarian purpose. Whether you opt to have it on a nightstand for jewelry, or an entry console for keys, this beautiful object has a presence beyond its usefulness.
Gorgeous and heavyweight piece that gives off a luxurious sensory experience with a texture and materiality that is instantly identifiable at an iconic Italian piece.
The central chromed dish is removable for aesthetic changes or cleaning. A chic piece to set on a coffee table or nightstand. It would be incredible as a jewelry drop as well.
Fratelli Mannelli (F.lli Mannelli) was a mid-20th-century Italian design workshop and manufacturing group based in Signa, near Florence, famous for its Brutalist and Modernist decorative objects and lighting carved from travertine marble (often labeled "Vero Travertino di Rapolano").
This piece is stamped "Italy" to the base.
