We're pretty certain this is Japanese writing. And we deduce it's a barbershop sign. That being said, , we're looking at a pretty lovely and large vintage wooden trade sign, that's been hand carved and painted. It is also signed by the maker on the edge, seen in the photos. A great addition to any Japanese memorabilia or trade sign collector. The little hole on the razor edge would most likely was used to hang it.
