The pine has developed a gorgeous, time-softened patina, rich in tone and layered with the gentle marks of use that only decades can bring.

Lift the lid and a small interior candle box reveals itself — a thoughtful detail once used to store candles or small personal items safely within reach. At some point in its life, the chest was fitted with Arts and Crafts style handles, likely copper, adding both function and an additional layer to its story. These later additions sit comfortably against the simplicity of the pine, a quiet evolution rather than a disruption.

Its proportions are particularly appealing — at 41.75"W x 17.5"D x 18"H, it is wonderfully versatile. In a 19th century home, a chest like this would have been essential, storing blankets, linens, or clothing, often placed at the foot of a bed or along a wall, doubling as both storage and seating.

Today, it lends itself just as easily to modern living — as a coffee table, a storage piece in a bedroom or hallway, or a place to gather everyday essentials. It is the kind of piece that adapts without losing its sense of origin.

Hand selected in and imported from England, this blanket chest carries with it the quiet continuity of use — shaped by the past, and ready to serve again. See less
