Henri Bacher (1890-1934) sensitively engraved an old well surrounded by its half-timbered houses and a tree with bare branches. The black ink on ivory paper creates a striking contrast, characteristic of woodcuts of this period, both expressive and delicate.

The work is signed in pencil in the lower right corner, accompanied by the stylized monogram HB engraved directly into the block, and titled on the left with the inscription "Originalholzschnitt," meaning "original woodcut" in German, attesting to its authenticity and Alsatian origin. The dark wood frame is original and adds to the overall charm, with a light patina on the corners.
