Born in Trieste to an Italian father and a Slovenian mother, Louis Toffoli settled in Paris where he developed a highly personal figurative style, characterized by vibrant colors and geometric forms, akin to a sensitive and warm Cubism. This work depicts a harvest scene: three gleaners, wearing wide straw hats, gathering sheaves of wheat in a golden light typical of his palette. The rural subject, recurrent in his work, testifies to his commitment to representing labor and human gesture.

Toffoli exhibited worldwide (Germany, Brazil, the Netherlands, Morocco, Israel, the United States), and a museum dedicated to him was established in Charenton-le-Pont.
Condition: Very good overall condition, wove paper, wide untrimmed margins, slightly irregular edges typical of handmade prints. No visible creases or stains.
