The pair of Carole Stupell brass lotus lily pad side tables beautifully captures the organic elegance that defined botanical sculpture during the 1960s and 1970s. Each table is composed around a large lotus leaf (Nelumbo nucifera) that forms the tabletop. The leaf is deeply hand-worked with radiating veins, softly undulating edges, and a naturalistic, slightly cupped profile that evokes a floating lily pad. Rising from the base are gracefully curving brass stems supporting an array of aquatic botanical elements. These include unfurled lotus leaves at various stages of growth, a tightly closed lotus bud, and a striking open lotus blossom whose overlapping petals surround the seed receptacle, creating a sculptural focal point. The varying heights and asymmetrical arrangement faithfully mimic the rhythm of lotus plants emerging from still water.

The base itself is formed as a broad floating lotus leaf with engraved veining, from which the stems naturally emerge, creating the illusion of a miniature waterscape.
