The base is fabricated from welded steel, with individually formed birds rising at varying heights and angles to create a wonderfully artistic composition beneath the glass.

Each bird has its own expressive form, with elongated textured bodies, individually shaped wings and hand-tooled feather detailing. The deliberately rough, built-up surfaces and visible welded construction give the base a distinctly Brutalist character, while the movement of the flock keeps the substantial metalwork feeling surprisingly light and animated.

A thick triangular glass top rests above the sculpture, allowing the birds to remain fully visible from every angle. At an impressive 5/8 inch thick, the glass has wonderful visual weight and beautifully balances the substantial base. The unusual triangular shape further emphasizes the sculptural quality of the design.

Unsigned, the table appears to be an artist-made or studio-crafted piece. It is an exceptionally unusual example of functional sculpture, equally compelling as a coffee table and as a work of art.
