This is a gorgeous casted pair of solid bronze dog figures. The dogs are of the Brussels Griffon breed and are charming in their depiction of a male and a female, the male with it's tongue hanging out in a rakish manner, and a collar with a lock, which in the Victorian period was a token of love. The female is wearing a cape, tied at the neck. These are excellent model castings, and have great relief in the features and fur. It appears that the head of the male dog used to open, as there is evidence of a hinge on the back. At some point it was welded shut and repaired.

These are heavy in weight and such charming pieces for any mantle or bookshelf. See less
