All 5 are hand-colored, with vivid, still-bright color that hasn't faded the way so many surviving plates have. Each measures approximately 9 x 12 inches.

All 5 scenes show two fashionable women together in a garden setting, modeling the elaborate bustled gowns, parasols, and trims of the 1870s: a green promenade dress paired with white, a golden gown with lace flounces, a mustard-and-blue pairing by a garden trellis, a green silk gown with a seated companion, and a golden-and-lavender pair seated at a table with a fashion album. Each plate is signed within the image by illustrator Anaïs Toudouze, a leading fashion artist for the magazine, and printed by Paris print houses Gilquin fils or Leroy, noted in small type beneath the image.
