The expressive standing figure is rendered with a broad laughing face, elongated earlobes, flowing layered robes and finely carved decorative details. One arm is dramatically raised overhead holding a carved object, while a rooster/cockerel stands alongside the figure at the base. Particularly appealing details include inset eyes and teeth, which give the face considerable character and dimension.

The sculpture retains an older “Made in China” paper label on the underside. No identifiable artisan or workshop mark has been located.

Likely produced for the export market during the mid-20th century, approximately 1950s–1970s.

Condition: Good vintage condition with age-appropriate surface wear, minor marks and natural checking/hairline splitting to the wood, including visible splitting along portions of the reverse. Please review photographs closely as they are considered part of the condition description.
