Hot, melted tallow or wax would be poured into the rectangular top tray, filling the tubes, and once hardened, the candles were removed using the top handles.
Double strap side handles made it easy to carry, while the top tray caught any excess wax. It boasts a beautiful, untouched rustic charm with a weathered gray patina, surface oxidation, scattered rust, and minor wear typical of an authentic 1800s household tool.
All tubes and hand-worked seams remain solid and tightly soldered, making it a wonderful display piece for collectors of early lighting, primitive kitchenware, or rustic farmhouse holiday décor. See less
