The stylish frayed edge acetate tag inside the bag (see photo) indentifies the fabricator as Wear Best Specialty Leather Company of Cincinnati and dates the piece to the early-to-mid 1950s. Constructed of "Deep Buff, Split Cow-hide" with leather wrapped handle, brass feet, brass hinges, as well as a quality, 135/52 brass three slot lock with highly decorative scalloped, bell-shaped shield escutcheon manufactured by the prestigious Presto Lock Company of Garfield, NJ, purveyor of luggage locks to all the high-end American manufacturers. This was no ordinary satchel, but a top-of-the line example coveted by physicians, attorneys, and executives wanting a durable and handsome accessory to show the world they "have made it".

Condition: Good overall vintage condition with awesome patina; normal leather & brass wear for 70+ years of enjoyment. Missing the tuck latch (strap which extends from the top to the slot on the lock mechanism); small hole on 1 end.
