The composition draws the eye down a sunlit garden path toward a central fountain, flanked by bold, gestural forms suggesting palms, cacti, and tropical flora. Sheirr's characteristic approach — simplifying landscape into fields of saturated color and energetic mark-making — gives the scene an almost joyful abstraction, the garden more felt than described.

Sheirr studied at Brooklyn College with Ad Reinhardt, Rothko, Diller, and Still, later attending the Art Students League, NYU, and Pratt Graphic Center. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at the United Nations Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing, the Cini Foundation in Venice, and the National Academy of Design in New York, where she received the Obrig Award in 1990.
