A boldly expressive figurative work, My Peace by Gigi Bolden is a hand-signed limited edition serigraph depicting a reclining woman rendered in vivid cobalt and cerulean blue, adorned with a garland of white roses. The composition fills the picture plane with saturated color — electric blue skin, flowing red hair, golden drapery, and a richly patterned purple medallion — drawing on a visual language that bridges Neo-Expressionism and contemporary figurative art. The figure's closed eyes and relaxed posture convey quiet introspection, the roses functioning as both decoration and symbol.
Bolden received her BFA from the Center for Creative Studies in Detroit and left a career as a graphic designer in 1993 to pursue her art full time. Her work captures the positive essence of womanhood and the spirit of love — qualities that run throughout her figurative serigraph work.
