The vessel is formed in glazed earthenware with a tall baluster profile, broad rounded shoulders, constricted neck and flared lip, and is decorated throughout in hand-painted cobalt blue over a warm cream-white ground.

The surface is organised around continuous scrolling foliate and arabesque ornament derived from the Portuguese ceramic traditions of Alcobaça. Broad acanthus-like leaves, curling tendrils and repeating ornamental passages extend around the body, with variations in line width, cobalt density and individual brush movement consistent with hand-painted execution rather than transfer decoration. Horizontal cobalt bands articulate the neck, shoulder and lower body, visually separating the principal decorative registers.

The tall proportions and dense ornament give the vase a strongly architectural presence. At 15.5 inches high and approximately 9 inches across, the form is substantially larger than ordinary tabletop faience. The 4.14 lb weight is consistent with its glazed earthenware construction.

The underside bears the circular Luiz Salvador factory mark incorporating the LS initials and Itaipava identification, confirming manufacture by Cerâmica Luiz Salvador. A separate handwritten inscription is also present and is retained as a decorator's signature without assigning an unverified individual painter.

Cerâmica Luiz Salvador was founded in Itaipava in 1952 by Portuguese ceramicist Luiz Salvador. The workshop developed within the ceramic traditions of Alcobaça, adapting Portuguese decorative vocabulary to Brazilian faience production. The cobalt-and-cream palette, scrolling ornament and baluster form of this example are consistent with the factory's later twentieth-century output.
